We Remember: A Month of Art, Community, and Connection for Memorial Day
Every May, our community comes together to honor the lives and legacies of fallen service members through creativity, reflection, and connection. This year, we invite you to join us for a month of meaningful art‑making, culminating in our annual digital exhibit, We Remember.
Whether you’re an artist, a writer, a veteran, a family member, or someone seeking a moment of calm and community, you are welcome here.
Submit Your Artwork
for We Remember
As we prepare for Memorial Day, we invite artists of all backgrounds and experience levels to submit artwork created in honor of a fallen service member. Two‑dimensional, three‑dimensional, and all mediums are welcome.
Throughout May, our visual art programs will be dedicated to the Memorial Day Project and facilitated by our core visual art facilitators. Whether you’re beginning a new piece or continuing one you’ve been holding close, you’re invited to create alongside us.

Submission deadline: Thursday, May 21
The We Remember exhibit will be featured during our Memorial Day Creative Sanctuary on May 25 and then shared on our website.
We’re honored to hold space with you as we remember those who served and the loved ones who carry their stories forward.
May Visual Art Workshops
Throughout the month, join us for three special Memorial Day–focused visual art sessions facilitated by Veteran artists Valerie Acosta and Joe Merritt. Each workshop offers a supportive space to create, reflect, and connect with others in community. Join us on Wednesdays in May (May 6th, 13th and 20th) at 7pm EST to work on a piece for the digital exhibit. All sessions are free, virtual, and open to all.
Memorial Day Creative Sanctuary
Sunday, May 25
This Memorial Day, join us for a special Creative Sanctuary, a welcoming space for art, writing, meditation, and meaningful connection.
Bring a project you’re working on or something that inspires you to share with the group. Whether you’re an artist, a writer, or simply seeking a moment of calm during Memorial Day, this open art and writing session is for you.
Together, we’ll explore our creative sides, find tranquility, and build connections in a supportive environment.
During this gathering, we will also showcase We Remember, our digital art exhibit honoring fallen service members.
All are welcome, and tickets are free.
Honoring Together
Support the Memorial Day Fundraiser
As we move through this month of remembrance, you’re invited to support our Memorial Day fundraiser. Loneliness is preventable, and your gift helps us bring belonging, community, and the healing power of creative expression to veterans and those who love them. You may give in honor or in memory of a service member, and we will include their name on our memorial wall in the virtual exhibit. Use the donate button below.
May is a month of remembrance, reflection, and community at Mission Belonging. We hope you’ll join us — whether by submitting artwork, attending a workshop, supporting the fundraiser, or gathering with us on Memorial Day. Your creativity, your presence, and your stories help us honor those who served and the loved ones who carry their memories forward.
